. it happened at san jose city college. abc7 news reporter john alston is there live with the latest for us. john? >> carolyn, that all clear came at 7:45. no shots were fired. no gunman was found. for about four hours, no one was quite sure. heavily-armed officers from san jose city college and the city police department swarmed over the campus where hundreds of students were in the middle of their exienl exams. their final exams. the officers searched all five floors of the technology building. >> the scarest part of the evening was when the police came in with their guns basically up. >> on the third floor were journalism students from the san jose college times who took pictures as the drama unfolded. reporters and photographers with the best vantage point. >> they came through the side door, the adjoining classroom and ordered us hands up, drop your cameras, drop whatever you are doing. at which point they told us what they were going to do. they were going to frisk us, check our bags and let us out. >> the search began around 4:30 when the college police department's dispatch center g

investigators and residents in the neighborhood who tell us this is not common for their neighborhood at all. what we do know is that police tell us that a man and a woman were found unconscious in the streets behind me. now, what we know is this. two victims a female and male were rushed to san francisco general after being found in the 900 block of bros sell street 8:30 this evening bound, gaged and unconscious. medical aid was initiated at the scene, but both victims were rushed to san francisco general with life-threatening injuries. >> first we want them to be stabilized medically, and then we are going to try to see if we can ascertain some information from them after they have been medically tended to. >> right now there are more questions than answers. how were the victed? assaulted? what is the extent of their injuries. police have yet to determine a motive, and they are working to identify the victims. and one more thing is essential to their investigation. they are still trying to determine if the assault happened at this location. back here live, and

driver was racing. abc7 news reporter lilian kim shows us the damage. >> it was quiet in their funeral chapel. a memorial service was just getting underway. he is one of the funeral directors. >> we are about to start a celebration of life for one of our clients. and all of a sudden we heard a loud rumbling sound. >> that rumbling noise was the sound of a 1974 chevy nova crashing into the building and wiping out the front lobby. the 16-year-old driver and his passenger was taken to the hospital with serious injuries and so was a man attending the service. he suffered a broken leg. concord police say all was the result of what appears to have been two 16-year-olds racing. >> the preliminary reports from witnesses suggest there were two cars involved possibly in a speed contest down clayton road with one losing control and ending up in the building behind me. >> those in the funeral home say it could have been worse. most of the people have made their way past the lobby and into the chapel except a few employees who came very close to getting hurt. >> we were in the lobby literally five

that the heaviest part of the storm system was going to hit us about 7:00 this morning. in fact, i went ahead and captured the image of live doppler 7hd. specifically at 7:50 this morning you can clearly see the heaviest part of the storm making its way just over the golden gate bridge indicated by the deep reds and the oranges and the yellows and all of that moisture quickly pushed to the south. here is another shot of it by the way from our satellite-radar composite. live doppler 7hd is not showing any moisture at all out there. yes, it does look like we get a respite tonight and tomorrow, but more rain is in my accu-weather seven-day forecast. we'll get to that a little later. >> leigh, thank you. a huge gaping hole in a roadway is causing major problems for some lafayette residents. abc7 news reporter alan wang is live from the area with what this means for neighbors. alan? >> this has been a nightmare for the 20 some odd in the area. >> when the road collapsed it ?eapped off a water service line, sewage line and badly damaged a watermain. >> the only piece -- inconvenience is going to th
